UMJ Professor Delivers Scientific Oration at STIA & P ADS Palembang

Professor of Public Administration, Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta (UMJ) , Prof. Dr. Evi Satispi, M.Si., was invited to deliver a scientific oration at the 15th graduation ceremony of   the Annisa Dwi Salfaritzi (ADS) College of Administration and Government Sciences (STIA & P) at the Swarnadwipa Hotel, Palembang, Thursday, (14/10/ 23).

In front of hundreds of graduates, Prof. Evi Satispi, who is also the Dean of FISIP UMJ , spoke about "The Role of Policy Makers in Policy Formulation in the Era of Digitalization Transformation". He revealed that currently all activities, starting from e-government, e-KTP, e-passports, online transportation, financial transactions to e-commerce, are transforming into completely digital following the times.

Prof. Evi revealed that this era of digitalization can help us innovate in making policy formulations by using data analysis methods.

“Graduates must be familiar with anything that is data-based. For example, when using social media, we can view and analyze its content to map policy issues or public problems. "Through a model like that, we will obtain a regulation that can provide innovation to society," said Evi.

Evi further explained that the Government can take advantage of this era of digitalization to map problems that are developing in society, then formulate appropriate policies. This can also encourage policy integration. "There needs to be integration in making policy formulations between one agency and another. "Using the same data, so they are not different from each other and the Government can intervene comprehensively," explained Evi.

Not only that, Evi explained that currently policies can no longer be partial. Digitalization helps the government understand all of society's problems with one data.

“Previously, policies were partial depending on the problems of each region. "Currently this is not possible, policy formulation must consider the impact on other regions," added Evi.

When closing his scientific oration, Prof. Evi advised the graduates, some of whom work as State Civil Apparatus (ASN), to continue to transform so they can formulate or take public policies according to the needs of the current era. "Everyone needs to be digitally literate, before analyzing a policy you have to look at all data-based problems," concluded Evi.
